Thanksgiving is over, and Christmas Shopping season is upon us. And we're all tired of the "traditional" malls, big box stores, Amazon, Ebay, etc. So this week #NipClub reserved a special night at the world famous CHRISTKINDLMARKET in beautiful downtown Chicago.

The Christkindlmarket Chicago brings a cherished German and European tradition with international flair and local charm to Chicago. Chicago's largest open-air Christmas festival is an enchanting and inviting holiday village nestled in the center of the city’s downtown. Inspired by the 16th century Christkindlesmarkt in Nuremberg, Germany, one of the first holiday markets of its kind, the Christkindlmarket is well-known for its vendors’ high quality gifts and food, holiday cheer, and for being the ideal place for families to create their own holiday traditions.

History of the Christkind

The Christkind, a fairy-like being dressed in gold and white robes with a crown upon her golden locks, is the namesake of the Christkindlmarket Chicago. Christkind folklore dates back to the 1500s and stems from traditional customs: parades during the holiday season were guided by one “grand” angel, the Christkind. Since then, and still today, she is the bearer of gifts to most children in German speaking countries, much like Santa Claus is in the United States. Traditionally, gifts are exchanged December 24th and delivered by the Christkind, who leaves gifts under the Christmas tree and disappears before the children can catch a glimpse of her.

The booths and shops are outside in tents and lean-toos, to dress warm. It's in the exclusive downtown Magnificent Mile so it's not uncommon for shoppers to wear their holiday best outdoor gear while they shop. If you need help getting a special outfit, contact #NipClub Outfitters @RealFakeGator, @LampWireSlayer, @TinyPearlCat to get you that special outfit.

There will be plenty of booths of unique Christmas Gifts for you to buy and share, there is a burning yule log surrounded by benches to warm up and sip some "Christmas Spirit", our barktenders will have a booth with terrific traditional german market foods, and of course great drinks to warm you up. And our DJ's will be spinning great music for you to enjoy or even dance a little in the clearing by the yule log pit.

#NipClub Thanksgiving Open House Pawty November 22nd, 2018

This Thursday is Thanksgiving Day in America. I've given then entire #NipClub staff the day off with pay. BUT, never fear, we will leave the door unlocked AND I have arranged for an endless buffet of Thanksgiving Food Favorites. I've also overstocked the bar and you can make all the drinks you want.

We'll leave the DJ booth unlocked, so if you want to try spinning some tunes for your friends, go right ahead.

ALSO there will be no official "hours". Want to start on Wednesday and Pawty through the weekend? Go Ahead.

From time to time, some of our staff members may pop in and serve drinks or spin tunes, but that's their own choice. They are welcome to take the night off with pay if they like.

If you have a great time, and can afford it, you can still "tip". Every single cent goes directly to our carefully chosen No-Kill Rescues and Shelters.

We love you and we'll see you next week for a fun surprise theme pawty.

ANNOUNCEMENT: on Thursday November 22nd, I am giving EVERY #NipClub employee the night off with pay to celebrate Thanksgiving with their families. But....YES, #NipClub will be open that night. We will host our annual THANKSGIVING FEAST. And, yes, staff is welcome to come work a shift if they want, BUT if nobody is behind the bar, or spinning tunes, fear not! We will keep the buffet table full all night, their will be an open bar, just slip behind the bar and make some drinks for yourself and your friends. AND the DJ booth will be unlocked, if nobody if DJing and you want to give it a try, here's your chance. Last one out for the night, turn off the lights and lock the door.

And now, on to this weeks pawty:

The air is cold, the days are very short, everybody is getting very busy before the holidays are upon us. The fall harvest is in full swing, the "yard work" got more exhausting and intense, everything needs to be prepared and protected for winter. There are holiday events to plan, shopping to do, everything is a rush.

Well, Thursday night, forget all that for a few minutes and poke your head into #NipClub for a simple night at your favorite pawty bar.

Friends, great food, great drink, great music. That's it. Simply a nice night out with friends. At #NipClub
