It was 50 years ago today...

It's hard to believe but it's been 50 years since the Rocky Horror Picture Show opened for its world premier at the Rialto Theater in London.

It's controversial subject matter, campiness and low production values resulted in mostly negative reviews. Essentially it was a flop and was shelved due to low box office performance.

Fortunately for us, it gained a cult following through midnight screenings and audience participation, becoming the cultural phenomenon we know it as today. And once again, we've opened up Dr. Frank N. Furter's Lab on the #Nipclub rooftop to celebrate 50 years of fun and craziness.

Punk Rock Festival Slovenia

Pack your bags (and ear protection) because we're going to the Punk Rock Holiday in Slovenia!

Punk rock is a subgenre of rock music that emerged in the mid-1970s. Declaring that rock music had become too tame, punk bands rejected the over produced songs and big label record companies for a more stripped down sound. Songs were short and fast paced with bare bones vocals and instrumentation.

Punk also gave rise to a subculture that expressed rebellion through distinctive dress and hair style. This included torn shirts, leather jackets, studded or spiked bands, jewelry, safety pins and piercings. Typical hair styles ranged from short and choppy to Mohawks, often with long spikes.

It's County Fair Time!!!

It's almost August. Summer will be coming to a close soon. That means it's County Fair time! Midway rides, games, farm animals animals, and food. Not just any food, but food that is indulgent, possibly fried or on a stick, but most of all...fun!

Today is also National Chili Dog day. What better place to celebrate than at the County Fair. Come join us, roam the fairgrounds while eating all your Fair food favorites, and of course, a Chili Dog.
