I decided to postpone this weeks Theme for a week or two because there's a very important matter I'd like to discuss with you. Now, don't worry, we will pawty hard this week at our CHEERS Bar, with all the great food, friends and music you're used to, but first I want to address something that happened this week (that hasn't happened in quite some time). And give you some ideas how to avoid it in the future.
An important message from @TheNascarKitty. #NipClub Founding Member and Club Manager
#NipClub Co-Manager and graphics genius ended up, through no fault of his own in Twitter Jail. He will have to go through the arduous task of proving to Twitter that his account is real and that's he's not a "spammer" or a "bot". This has happened to pals from time to time in the past, and some have actually lost their accounts and had to start over. Others have eventually been released and their accounts restored.
In the old days we used to het put in Twitter Jail for tweeting too much during a period of hours. It was actually easy during busy pawties. But that doesn't happen very often anymore.
So what happened to Gator?
Well, I'm not sure in his case. Apparently Twitter told him there were "irregularities" with his account and it would be suspended pending an investigation.
I consulted some TWITTER experts about what could have happened, and it seems very likely it was something we all do during our time at NipClub. And so we do not end up in jail next to Gator, I will list some of their suggestions below:
POSSIBLE CAUSE: Too many scheduled tweets that were identical. Our management and PR teams do a lot of scheduled promotional tweets during the week. And often they are repeated several times and across multiple accounts without varying.
SUGGESTED SOLUTION: Change up the wording. Even when you're sharing a post from somebody else. Just a word or two. It'll take a little longer to set up, but it beats the alternative.
Another very realistic cause, is something we ALL DO during pawties. We tag a bunch of people in a tweet, and then make a pawty long conversation out of it. I've woken up in the morning with over a hundred tweets tagging me in a conversation that happened after I left the pawty. AND it's no big deal. It let's us see what was going on. BUT sadly, because we do get tens of thousands of tweets a week on our hashtag, AND we also regularily get spammed and have to report it to twitter, as we should. BUT that also causes Twitter's monitors to take frequent looks at what's happening on our timeline, basically looking for spam.
And one very sure way for Twitter's algorithms to take notice is to have long strings of tweets tagging multiple people. It's exactly what their spam filters are looking for. Luckily, they haven't taken action too often. Solution: We need to get back to pawtying the way we used too. Open a search pane for " #NipClub " and just pawty. Only tag each other if it's something very personal or you're contacting a barktender or your message is to a specific anipal/group of anipals. And then keep that string to a half dozen tweets and then stop it and start over. By watching that SEARCH pane you can pawty and chat with everybody and you wont miss much, but more importantly, you wont draw the attention of the "twitter police".
And, with that let's get on with pawtying. Just remember, try to tweet carefully to stay out of Twitter Jail.
