We're off to New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras!

Here's a few fun facts about Mardi Gras that you may not know:

1. The official Mardi Gras colors are purple (justice), green (faith), and gold (power).
2. Mardi Gras translates to Fat Tuesday.
3. King Cake is the most popular dessert served.
4. The Mardi Gras celebration came from France.
5. In 1703, French Settlers in Mobile, Alabama established the first Mardi Gras celebration.
6. The first official Mardi Gras parade in Louisiana was in 1837.
7. In 1875, Mardi Gras became an official state holiday in Louisiana.
8. In the 1880s, a man dressed as Santa Claus threw the first beads and it became a tradition.
9. The beads thrown were originally made of glass.
10. The parades are organized by groups called Krewes that are named for figures from Greek or Roman mythology.
