Join us this week for a Memorial Day Celebration (Memorial Day in the US was last Monday, the 26th, this year)

A few facts about Memorial Day:

Memorial Day honors US military service members who died while serving our country.
In 1966, Congress and President Lyndon Johnson declared Waterloo, NY the 'birthplace' of Memorial Day because on May 5, 1866, they began honoring veterans by closing businesses that day so the residents could decorate the graves of the veterans who fought and died in the Civil War with flowers and American flags.

Memorial Day was established as a federal holiday in 1971 and moved to the last Monday in May

We visit a few local cemeteries here and see how many American flags and flowers have been placed on veterans graves annually by local organizations.
Other countries also honor their fallen veterans.
