He rose from humble beginnings in Tupelo, Mississippi. Sang Gospel, Country and Blues. Then his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee. His 8th grade teacher said he had no aptitude for singing. He was unpopular, too shy to perform. then he changed and the rest is History.
