Doctor Who is in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the 'longest-running science-fiction television show in the world.'

Here's Ten Cool Things About Doctor Who That You May Not Know:

1. There have been 884 Doctor Who episodes as of the end of 2024.
2. Nineteen actors have played The Doctor. There have been fifteen officially numbered doctors but the alternative versions bring the total to nineteen.

3. The first Doctor's health problems led to the regeneration concept in the story.

4. The 4th Doctor (Tom Baker) was the longest-serving doctor for seven years and 172 episodes.

5. David Tennant, the 10th and the 14th doctor in the rebooted series, was the second longest-serving doctor for six years and 47 episodes.

6. David Tennant was inspired to become an actor by the 4th Doctor, Tom Baker. David's goal was to star in Doctor Who.

7. The 11th doctor, Matt Smith's, look created a huge demand for bow ties.

8. Benedict Cumberbatch and Hugh Grant both turned down opportunities to be one of the doctors in the series.

9. TARDIS and Dalek were both added to the Oxford English Dictionary.

10. Douglas Adams, the British Sci-Fi author who wrote the iconic novel "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," wrote a few of the Doctor Who episodes.
