#Nipclub Celebrates World Lake Day August 27, 2026 by remembering 2 special friends
World Lake Day was established by the United nations in 2025 in order to raise awareness about the ecological, economic and cultural value of lakes and to promote action to protect, restore and manage them.
We're going to make it a little more personal by remembering a magical summer where the anipal community came together to help a friend. You might not have been here for it, but the OG's remember The Summer At the Lake with Petie fondly.
After being diagnosed with kidney disease in 2010, pals started #pawcircles for Petie. As time went on, pals began to meet on #petiesporch and eventually at the family Lake Cottage where they would keep him company and help lift his spirits. Pals came often and stayed longer and bringing sleeping bags or tents. Soon, it turned into a weekend get-together. Pals arrived by @FreshOtis' bus, or Duchess' teleporter, by Jet or even by magic carpet! We camped, and swam (those who didn't swim were treated to rides on the back of a large lab named @DuchessCrabtree). We water-skied and canoed and played. We had bonfires and roasted marshmallows or ate from @GeorgeTheDuck's NomMobile. Above all, we found that helping him helped us feel better too.
